Glossary of AI product content terms

Short, plain definitions of the words you'll meet when making product photos, videos and listings with AI, from 9:16 to virtual try-on.

4:5
The tallest shape Instagram allows for a feed post, 1080 × 1350 pixels. It takes up more of the screen than a square post.
9:16
The vertical video and image shape used by Instagram Reels and Stories, TikTok and YouTube Shorts: 9 units wide by 16 tall, usually 1080 × 1920 pixels.
AI avatar
A realistic person created by AI who can appear in images and videos, for example holding and talking about a product. Not a real person, and shouldn't be presented as one. AI avatar videos →
AI-generated content label
A tag that platforms such as YouTube, TikTok and Instagram ask creators to add when realistic content was made or changed with AI.
Alt text
A short written description of an image, read aloud by screen readers and used by search engines to understand the image. Every product image should have it. AI product listings →
B-roll
Supporting footage that plays under a voice or caption, such as close-ups of a product, to keep a video visually interesting.
Burned-in captions
Captions drawn into the video picture itself, so they show on every platform and player, unlike a separate subtitle file. Video captions →
Conversion rate
The share of visitors who buy. A store with 1,000 visitors and 20 orders has a 2% conversion rate.
Lifestyle photo
A product photo shown in a real-looking setting, like a kitchen, a bathroom shelf or outdoors, rather than on a plain background. AI product photos →
Lip sync
Matching a speaker's mouth movements to the words being spoken. In AI avatar videos it makes the presenter look natural.
Meta description
The short summary (about 150 characters) a page offers search engines to show under its title in results. It doesn't change rankings directly but affects clicks.
Product listing
A product's page in an online store: its title, description, photos, price, variants and SEO details.
Reel
A short vertical video on Instagram (and Facebook), up to a few minutes long, shown in the Reels tab and feed.
Scene style
In Launch Desk, a ready-made or AI-made background that your real product photo is placed into to make a studio image.
SEO title
The page title search engines show in results, usually under about 60 characters. It can differ from the product name shown on the page.
Shoppable video
A video that lets viewers buy the products shown in it, for example through product tags on Instagram or TikTok.
Short-form video
Videos of a few seconds to about a minute, made for vertical feeds such as Reels, TikTok and YouTube Shorts.
Story
A full-screen 9:16 Instagram or Facebook post that disappears after 24 hours unless saved as a Highlight.
Studio image
A product photo that looks professionally shot, with controlled light and a styled background. Launch Desk makes them from your plain product photos.
UGC (user-generated content)
Content made by customers or creators rather than the brand, such as unboxing and review videos. UGC-style ads imitate this look.
Video script
The words and shots planned for a video. In Launch Desk, each product video and avatar video starts with a script you can edit. AI product videos →
Virtual try-on
Showing clothing or accessories on a person with AI instead of a photo shoot. AI fashion models →
YouTube Shorts
YouTube's vertical short-video format, up to three minutes long, shown in the Shorts feed.
